GuidesNOWPayments
Get paid in many coins
with NOWPayments.
Connect your own NOWPayments account with its API key and IPN secret, and your live checkout offers payment in the coin each buyer chooses. Each notice NOWPayments sends is checked with your IPN secret, then confirmed with NOWPayments, before anything is delivered.
Custody and fees, plainly
NOWPayments is custodial. The buyer pays NOWPayments, the coins settle to your NOWPayments balance, and NOWPayments pays them out to your wallet on its own schedule. anyshop never holds them, and takes 0%.
NOWPayments publishes a 1% service fee (nowpayments.io/pricing, read 1 October 2026), and network fees apply as NOWPayments shows them. Its API documentation says it "settles the payment to your balance" (NOWPayments API documentation). If you want coins straight to a wallet of your own with nothing in between, connect Bitcoin or Litecoin from your wallet's public key instead.
What you need
- A live NOWPayments account, with a payout wallet set in it.
- Your store reviewed by anyshop: NOWPayments takes live orders only. Test mode uses anyshop's simulated payment, so NOWPayments' sandbox is never needed.
- Two-factor sign-in on your anyshop account: saving payment keys asks for a fresh code.
Connect it
- In your NOWPayments dashboard, open Settings, then API keys, and create a key.
- Open Settings, then Payments, then Instant payment notifications, and generate the IPN secret.
- In anyshop, open Payments, Connect a rail, then NOWPayments. Paste the API key and the IPN secret.
- Choose Verify and save. We check the API key with NOWPayments, read only: nothing is created in your account. Both keys are encrypted when you save them and never shown again.
There is no address to paste in NOWPayments: anyshop sends its IPN callback URL with every invoice it creates for you.
After you save
| What the page says | What it means |
|---|---|
| Connected, waiting for the first payment notice to confirm the IPN secret | Your API key works and your live checkout offers NOWPayments. NOWPayments has no way to check an IPN secret on its own, so the first notice it sends, with your first live order, confirms it. |
| Verified | A notice arrived signed with your IPN secret. Live orders are paid and delivered automatically. |
| A payment notice arrived that did not match your IPN secret: check it | We refused it and delivered nothing. Copy the IPN secret from NOWPayments again and save both keys here. |
| Your IPN secret does not match; NOWPayments is paused at checkout until you save it again; then resend the notices from NOWPayments | A notice for one of your own invoices did not match the IPN secret you saved, so no payment could be confirmed. Checkout leaves NOWPayments out until you save the keys again; then resend the notices of the orders that wait. |
How a payment works
- At checkout, anyshop creates an invoice in your NOWPayments account for the order's total, in your store's currency.
- The buyer pays on NOWPayments' page, in the coin they choose. The rate is fixed for 10 minutes once they choose it.
- NOWPayments sends a notice. anyshop checks its signature with your IPN secret, then asks NOWPayments for the payment itself, and delivers only when NOWPayments says it finished, for the order's price. A faked notice can never release a key.
The keys stay held for the buyer for an hour after the invoice is made. A payment that finishes later still pays the order, and the buyer gets their keys, or waits for stock.
When a payment waits on you
Two kinds of payment are never delivered on their own, and the order shows Needs your decision:
- Partially paid: the buyer sent less than the price.
- A repeated deposit: the buyer sent money again to the same payment address.
On the order, or on Payments, NOWPayments, choose Deliver anyway, or refund the buyer from your NOWPayments dashboard and choose I refunded it in NOWPayments. Either choice is recorded in your security log.
Changing keys or disconnecting
Invoices already made keep the keys they were made with: a buyer who pays one after you change keys, or after you disconnect, still gets their order. The NOWPayments page lists the invoices still open. Old keys stay encrypted until none of those invoices can be paid any more (at most 8 days), then they are deleted. Changing keys and disconnecting ask for a fresh two-factor code.
Refunds
NOWPayments has no refund call for anyshop to use: refund the buyer from your NOWPayments dashboard. When NOWPayments reports the payment as refunded, the order shows it. To take back what was delivered, use the order's Take back. If a buyer pays in full after you noted a refund on a partial payment, the order is paid and delivered, and we email you and add a note to the order: check NOWPayments, since you may have refunded money they then paid again.
If a buyer says they paid
anyshop learns about a payment from NOWPayments' notice. NOWPayments resends a notice it could not deliver, but sends none for a payment after it expires. If an order says it was not paid and the buyer shows they paid, resend the payment notification from your NOWPayments dashboard: the order is paid and delivered once the notice checks out.
